What is a yahrzeit?
Yahrzeit (יָאהרצַייט) is the Hebrew anniversary of a loved one's passing. It is commemorated by lighting a 24-hour candle and saying Kaddish. The date is calculated by the Hebrew calendar, so it falls on different Gregorian days each year.
